The $1000 Price Tag For Walking In Trump’s Shoes At The Capella, Sentosa Island

Admin Lifestyle Leave a Comment

Although the historic meeting between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un took place over three months ago, it certainly added an extra jewel to Singapore’s crown. The five star Capella Hotel was the site of the first ever summit between an American and North Korean leader and is situated on The Knolls, in Sentosa Island.

Sentosa has long been associated with luxurious staycations for the Singaporean elite and buying property here can cost you a lot more than six figures. Daytrippers from Singapore may marvel at the sea air and blue skies but this picturesque beauty comes at a price.

So, for those who are intrigued by the site of the most legendary meeting of modern times, let’s take a look at The Capella. Far more like a resort than a hotel, The Capella has two restored colonial bungalows dating from the 1880’s and the hotel itself has over 112 rooms, all of which contain local artwork, Malay textiles and design touches which are fit for royalty.

Thinking about choosing a room? You can have a sea view, a private garden or a balcony which spans the length of your room. Not to mention the in-room jacuzzis. All of this luxury comes at a price of course, with rooms starting at S$400 before tax. If you are thinking of bringing your friends along, then why not book a villa, which includes an outdoor terrace and a private plunge pool. For S$900, the hotel aims to create a home away from home. With just a little bit more luxury.

Cashing in on their notoriety for hosting the North Korean leader and American president, The Capella Hotel now offers a Path to Peace package, claiming that guests can ‘relive the moment of a new era where the seeds of peace were planted on 12 June 2018’. Priced at S$1150, the package offers some of the highlights of the Capella Hotel at a reasonable price.

For your dosh, you can get:

  • A one bedroom garden villa
  • Breakfast for two
  • Lunch or dinner at on-site restaurant Cassia
  • A private tour of the venues used for the summit.
  • An exclusive DPRK-US medallion.

Not bad, eh?

A meal at Cassia will cost over S$100 for a main course with drinks, depending on what you order, alone so you get quite a lot of bang for your buck.

So, if you want to live out your Crazy Rich Asians fantasies, then Capella might have just what you are looking for. Failing that, the hotel has now become synonymous with one of the most dramatic events of the year so if you want a piece of history (and not just in the form of a medallion) then it might be worth saving up/blowing out for.
